Together with Wingårds Architects and Rejlers lighting designers, we have worked on a renovation project at Volvo Cars in Kista.

\n\n

An extensive renovation of the existing premises was planned, aiming to reuse the existing lighting system as much as possible. The system consisted of spotlights with metal halide light sources and large linear luminaires equipped with a combination of spotlights with metal halide and diffused light from fluorescent tubes. During the reuse process, the project team wished to make some modifications to the existing linear luminaires, changing their configuration from a combination of directed and diffused light to only diffused light.

\n\n

With a clearly defined goal, we at Stockholm Lighting assessed the condition and structure of the existing luminaires. Prototypes were created at our workshop in Malmö, offering various options for light color, beam angles, and diffusers, which could be evaluated on-site to find the optimal solution.

\n\n

We have now updated 100 linear luminaires and nearly 200 double spotlights on-site.

\n\n

The estimated CO2 savings during A1-A3, compared to new luminaires, are calculated to be 23.8 tons of CO2e, based on comparative figures for generic equivalent luminaires with the same format and light output.

‘Våga is a new water tower, built in Varberg, as part of their plan for sustainable infrastructure in the commune. Designed by White Arkitekt, the elongated wave design is a landmark for the city. Built to be part of the landscape, a walking path takes visitors directly under the massive concrete structure. The lighting is simple and elegant, using a single luminaire at each panel to graze the façade. The Lumenpulse optics allow a dramatic lighting effect while minimizing light pollution in this natural setting. The luminaires are programmed to shift from warm to cool in a slow wave that shifts character season to season.’

Hotel Tylösand's new spa department uses lighting to create different atmospheres in the space throughout the day. The bar and the surrounding area are illuminated with custom-made concealed light profiles from Ljus iHus. Above the pool floats a glowing heart, a symbol that permeates the entire facility, created using fiber optics.

We delivered downlights from AlphaLED to Fatburen in 2014. During 2023 and 2024, large parts of the property were renovated, and one of the tenants' requests was new lighting in the common areas. Overall, they were satisfied with the lighting concept but wanted a slightly warmer light. Since the fixtures were installed 10 years ago, LED technology has also advanced, significantly improving efficiency. We were contacted by Exengo, who were designing the renovation, and since the customer was happy with the current installation, we simply proposed replacing the LED modules in the downlights.

\n\n

AlphaLED supplied new upgraded LED modules with a warmer color temperature, which, thanks to the fixture design, could replace the old modules by simply loosening two screws.

\n\n

The replacement reduced the installed power by over 50% compared to the previous installation, while simultaneously increasing the light levels.

\n\n

By only replacing the light modules and reusing the old mounting plates and ceiling panels, a large amount of material was saved. The replacement also saved a considerable amount of labor compared to replacing entire fixtures in the ceiling.

In the heart of Bergen lies Kode Museum which, for 200 years, has been the home of masterworks from the fields of music, art, fine craft and design. As a prominent member of the artistic profession who has a long relationship with the museum, Callum Innes – the world renown abstract painter – was invited to author a permanent exhibit of light that mirrors the subtle color mixing found in his painted works. In collaboration with Kevan Shaw Lighting Design, the two crafted a unique application of façade lighting that dynamically cycles through 60 “paintings” of light. The exhibit opened on 10-APR-2024 in coordination with Innes’ exhibition titled “Cadmium Orange Red Violet Lamp Black” and is on display for any who visits Bergen in search of some night-time art.

Kineum is located in the heart of G?rda, a district in Gothenburg currently undergoing modernization with many exciting projects. The 27-story building was completed in 2022 and has a fantastic facade of glass and metal, functioning as a combination of hotel and office building.
Light Bureau was tasked with creating the facade lighting and brought in Stockholm Lighting Company with a challenging vision ? to illuminate the facade of a 100m high building without causing light pollution.

Stockholm Lighting, Light Bureau, and Lumenpulse collaborated to develop a custom optic that combined micro-snoots and optical film. Photons that would have gone up into the sky were instead focused on the facade. The result is a subtle and beautiful design that uses light very efficiently, highlighting the complex design of the facade.

The fixtures were mounted on aluminum poles from Technilum. The poles with their fixtures resemble an old oil lamp with two balanced discs that hide the light sources. The unique design allows the poles to contribute to the building's architecture in a graceful way.
The facade lighting is controlled by a Pharos LPC1. The fixtures can be programmed for subtle lighting effects that give the illusion of a twisting and wavy surface. Additionally, the brightness adjusts according to ambient light, and on foggy days, the facade lighting is dimmed to prevent light pollution in the city.

The fixtures are Lumenfacade RGB from Lumenpulse, and the control system is from Pharos Controls. In planning the lighting, consideration has been given to the area's rich wildlife and birdlife, with inspiration taken from the migratory patterns of birds throughout the year, so the bridge's character changes over the year and day. Stockholm Lighting supplied the general lighting in the form of 31 Gyro Cube Double and 12 Universal Aqua fixtures. All fixtures are at 700 lm. The outer edge of the circular ceiling in the arrival hall symbolizes a clock face, around which a light point flows with an orbit time of exactly one minute. The effect was created by custom-built fixtures based on iColor Flex SLX mounted around the edge of the ceiling. During the test period, we illuminated one side of Kakn?stornet as well as the upper of the 'balconies' on the tower. The purpose was to create a basis and knowledge for a potential future lighting of the entire tower.
The test was conducted with 4 ColorReach for the base of the tower, 200 iColor Flex LMX nodes for the balcony, and 8 ColorBlast for the upper part of the tower. The control system is an LPC1 from Pharos Controls.
